Student in the Classroom T he DLIFLC has a responsibility to provide selected military and government personnel with quality foreign language instruction. We accomplish this by using instructional programs that teach language skills which allow graduates to successfully complete their missions with confidence.

We recognize that language is not learned in a cultural vacuum. Language and culture are so intricately intertwined that learning must encompass all aspects of the country where the language is spoken. Some of these cultural considerations are value systems and behavioral patterns, as well as geographical, political, and economic issues. We have created a system of learning which addresses all of these concerns into a single program of instruction.

Our total language immersion technique offers knowledge and understanding of foreign cultures unparalleled by any other language training facility. The concept provides comprehensive, intensive language instruction in auditory skills, reading, writing, and authentic conversation dialogues. Most importantly, the program employs the simultaneous teaching of language fluency with the history and culture of the respective countries.

The foremost goal of DLIFLC is that graduates meet the requirements levied on them from their respective service agency. Therefore, students must be provided instructional programs that are responsive to the foreign language needs of a wide variety of military positions throughout the world.
