Continuing Education
ontinuing Education has the goal of providing superior post-basic foreign language instruction via
resident and non-resident programs to approximately 25,000 Department of Defense and other U.S.
government personnel each year to assure full linguist mission readiness.
Brief History:
Since its inception in 2000, Continuing Education has experienced tremendous growth. The school became a
Directorate in November 2003 at DoD Center - Monterey Bay with the consolidation of the intermediate and
advanced language courses, previously conducted along side the DLIFC Basic Course at the Presidio of
Monterey. High demand for advanced intensive resident and non-resident language training prompted
expansion, leading to the creation of four new internal organizations: School for Resident Continuing
Education; Distance Learning Division; Extension Programs; Training Support and Special Programs. For
more information about this school, you may contact the Administrative Assistant at (831) 242-6868.
