Basic Course Development

The Basic Course department within CD develops curricula for individual schools on request. The main clients for the Basic Course group are the students and teachers of DLI, and therefore, the curriculum is designed to meet their needs. The courses integrate the four skills of reading, listening, speaking, and writing with explicit grammar instruction, while also ensuring that students receive extensive training in their future job-related skills.

Post Basic Course Development

The Post Basic group within CD develops:

post basic curriculum in several languages for Language Training Detachments, as well as for Continuing Education at DLI

supplementary multi-language online teaching materials for basic and post basic language education known as GLOSS (Global Language Online Support System) and WTE (Weekly Training Events)

ODA (Online Diagnostic Assessment) tools designed to analyze the linguist’s ability in listening and reading comprehension, create a comprehensive individualized profile of that ability, and provide recommendations for improvement

Assessment Development

The Assessment group within CD works in coordination with the Curriculum Development teams and individual schools to design in-course assessment tools that accurately gauge student achievement and performance.
