Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major Alan Pendergast was born and raised in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Shortly after graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies, he enlisted into the United States Army.

Command Sergeant Major Pendergast’s assignments include the 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Riley, Kansas; the 500th MP Detachment, Livorno, Italy; the 309th Military Intelligence (MI) Battalion, Fort Huachuca, Arizona; the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, Presidio of Monterey, California; the 7th Infantry Division (Light), Fort Ord, CA; the 66th MI Group, Mainz, Germany and Vicenza, Italy; the 513th MI Brigade, Fort Gordon, Georgia; the 650th MI Group, SHAPE, Belgium; the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy; Joint Task Force Six, Fort Bliss, TX; the 2nd Infantry Division, Republic of Korea (ROK); the 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Fort Bragg, NC; and the 501st MI Brigade, ROK.

Command Sergeant Major Pendergast is a graduate of the Military Police Basic Course, the Counterintelligence Agent Course, and numerous other military courses. He completed all of the NCOES courses, including the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.

CSM Pendergast’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (one oak leaf cluster), the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (3 oak leaf clusters), and numerous other awards. His deployments include Panama, Rwanda, Afghanistan and Iraq. In 2006, he completed his Master's degree in education through Touro University International, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
