We are soliciting recipes, stories, and photos from faculty, staff, and students for the DLIFLC Cook Book!
Many things divide a people, but good food unfailingly brings them together.
If you would like to submit a recipe along with a short vignette that describes the significance of the food in your culture for the DLIFLC Cook Book, please see this
attached template and read below.
-
The intent is to collect recipes from faculty, staff and students in the target language with an English translation in order to use this book as a teaching tool for students to enhance
their understanding of the language, culture, and customs of a particular nation.
-
Each recipe will have a story to go with it, which explains where the recipe comes from, perhaps what special holiday it is prepared for, or anything else interesting about the customs
surrounding this food.
- Each recipe will be accompanied by a photograph, of either the food, or the person preparing the food in their kitchen. (to be determined).
-
Recipes need to be rather simple for preparation and the ingredients need to be fairly common, so that students can readily make this food during an immersion or in their own kitchen.
-
Prior to selection, all recipes will be tested to ensure that the instructions are clear and accurate. Translations will be proof read by editors in English and in the target language.
- Only a limited number of recipes will be selected, so make sure your submission is clear, relevant, not too complicated, and is accompanied by an interesting story.
