The 34th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, Gen. James T. Conway, visited the Presidio of Monterey on March 29.
Conway, along with the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Sgt. Maj. Carlton W. Kent, visited classrooms at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center.
During his visit of a Pashto language class, Lance Cpl. Lauren Khols demonstrated to Conway the use of technology as a tool in aiding students in their studies. Conway, who addressed some 300 Marines at Soldier Field during his visit, is the highest-ranking officer in the Marine Corps and is a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
