Bachelor of Arts Degree

The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) as a specialized post-secondary institution.

Students must have attended a Basic Course or Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) course in residence at the Monterey DLIFLC location to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree. The Intermediate or Advanced Course may be completed in Monterey or at one of the language training detachments (LTDs) which offer the 19-week course.

If you are interested in attending an Intermediate or Advanced Course please contact your military service language office to learn more on availability and how to get scheduled.

This program is not open to the general public.


 

Applying for the BA Degree Program

Please read the B.A. degree application and B.A. degree plan to ensure you understand all program requirements including eligibility. Students may also obtain these forms by visiting the DLIFLC Degree Office located on campus at Bldg. 634 Room 11. Please see our FAQ page for more program details. To apply for your B.A. degree, submit your B.A. degree application and proof of service before sending transcripts (proof of service includes LES or Military ID card – see application for details). All documents must be received by the DLIFLC Degree Office before the student leaves federal service. Students are not notified when transcripts are received and are encouraged to email the DLIFLC Degree Office (BA-Degree@dliflc.edu) to check on the status of their file. 


 

Transfer Credit Transcript Requirements

TRANSCRIPT FORMAT: Official transcripts must be in sealed envelopes transmitted from the credit granting institution. E-transcripts will be accepted directly from institutes. An official transcript must be submitted from each attended institution.

If the DLIFLC Degree Office is unable to open an electronic transcript from an institution, it will be the student’s responsibility and financial obligation to ensure an official transcript is submitted and received by the DLIFLC Degree Office.

Only CLEP/DSST and appropriate Advanced Placement (AP)/International Baccalaureate (IB) scores may be transferred from third party transcripts at the discretion of the DLIFLC Degree Office. Transcripts from colleges/universities outside the U.S. must be evaluated by a NACES member.
